If the drinking water system’s water treatment equipment provides chlorination or chloramination for secondary disinfection, the equipment is operated so that, at all times and at all locations within the distribution system, i. the free chlorine residual is never less than 0.05 milligrams per litre, if the drinking water system provides chlorination and does not provide chloramination, or ii. the combined chlorine residual is never less than 0.25 milligrams per litre, if the drinking water system provides chloramination. 5. The water treatment equipment is properly maintained in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. 6. Written operating instructions for the water treatment equipment are kept near the equipment. 7. Clearly marked adequate supplies of chemicals or other materials necessary for the operation of the water treatment equipment are kept nearby in a safe and secure manner and separate from other chemicals and materials that are not used for the small drinking water system. 8. Replacement parts are kept nearby for those parts of the water treatment equipment that may be expected to require periodic replacement. 9. Maintenance records are created relating to all maintenance conducted on the water treatment equipment and kept for five years or as long as the water treatment equipment to which they relate remains in use, whichever period is longer. These records must contain the date and time of every action taken, the name of the person who took the action and the results of the action. 10. Any written manufacturer operating manuals or instructions that relate to any water treatment equipment must be maintained for five years or as long as the water treatment equipment remains in operation, whichever period is longer.Where a small drinking water system provides treatment of the water that it provides.high

Immediately check the drinking water system’s turbidity monitoring equipment and correct any problems that are identified. 2. If no problems are identified under paragraph 1, i. immediately backwash the nearest filter upstream of the location where the sample that gave rise to the report was taken or immediately replace the filter cartridges or filter elements of the nearest filtration equipment upstream of that location, and ii. immediately review other upstream operational processes and correct any faulty processes that are identified. 3. Immediately after taking the steps required by paragraphs 1 and 2, resample and test. 4. If turbidity that exceeds 1.0 Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTU) is detected under paragraph 3, i. immediately take all reasonable steps to notify all users of water from the system to use an alternate source of drinking water or, if no alternate source is available, to bring water to a rapid rolling boil for at least one minute before use, ii. immediately notify the medical officer of health... iii. follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for servicing the filtration equipment... and iv. flush the distribution system and any plumbing owned by the owner...Upon adverse report for turbidity.high

#D019nutrient management strategymeans a plan prepared by or on behalf of a municipality or a generator of prescribed materials to ensure the prescribed materials generated in the municipality or by the generator are appropriately managed and may include one or more nutrient management plans;high
#D020prescribedmeans prescribed by the regulations;high
#D021processingincludes sawing, cleaning, treating, grading and packaging to the extent that these activities relate to products primarily from an agricultural operation and are conducted as a part of an agricultural operation;high
#D022provincial officermeans a provincial officer designated under subsection 4 (1);high
#D023regulationsmeans the regulations made under this Act;high
#D024Tribunalmeans the Ontario Land Tribunal.high
#D025vehicleincludes a trailer or other equipment attached to the vehicle.high
#D026devicemeans a substance or tracking device that, when placed or installed in or on any place, land or thing, may be used to help ascertain, by electronic or other means, the origin, identity or location of any thing.high
#D027cancellation pricehas the same meaning as in Part XI of the Municipal Act, 2001 or Part XIV of the City of Toronto Act, 2006 , as the case may be.high
#D028commercial motor vehiclehave the same meanings as in the Highway Traffic Act ;high
#D029farm tractorhave the same meanings as in the Highway Traffic Act ;high
#D030motor vehiclehave the same meanings as in the Highway Traffic Act ;high
#D031self-propelled implement of husbandryhave the same meanings as in the Highway Traffic Act ;high
#D032offence notice or summonsmeans, (a) an offence notice or summons under Part I of the Provincial Offences Act , or (b) a summons under Part III of the Provincial Offences Act.high
#D033receivermeans a person who has been appointed to take or who has taken possession or control of property pursuant to a mortgage, hypothec, pledge, charge, lien, security interest, encumbrance or privilege or pursuant to an order of a court, and includes a receiver-manager and an interim receiver.high
#D034delegation agreementmeans an agreement described in subsection (1).high
#D035designated policymeans a policy designated in the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan as a designated policy;high
#D036instrumentmeans any document of legal effect, including a permit, licence, approval, authorization, direction or order, that is issued or otherwise created under an Act, but does not include, (a) a regulation within the meaning of Part III of the Legislation Act, 2006 , or (b) a by-law of a municipality or local board;high
#D037Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authorityincludes any successor of that Authority;high
#D038Lake Simcoe watershedmeans, (a) Lake Simcoe and the part of Ontario, the water of which drains into Lake Simcoe, or (b) if the boundaries of the area described by clause (a) are described more specifically in the regulations, the area within those boundaries;high
#D039local boardhas the same meaning as in the Municipal Affairs Act ;high
#D040prescribed instrumentmeans an instrument that is issued or otherwise created under a provision prescribed by the regulations of, (a) the Aggregate Resources Act , (b) the Clean Water Act, 2006 , (c) the Conservation Authorities Act , (d) the Crown Forest Sustainability Act, 1994 , (e) Repealed: 2025, c. 11, Sched. 11, s. 5. (f) the Environmental Assessment Act , (g) the Environmental Protection Act , (h) the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997 , (i) the Lakes and Rivers Improvement Act , (j) the Nutrient Management Act, 2002 , (k) the Ontario Water Resources Act , (l) the Pesticides Act , (m) the Public Lands Act , (m.1) the Species Conservation Act, 2025 , or (n) any other Act or regulation prescribed by the regulations, other than the Planning Act , the Condominium Act, 1998 or a regulation made under the Planning Act or the Condominium Act, 1998 ;high
#D041prescribed outside areameans an area prescribed by the regulations as a prescribed outside area;high
#D042public bodymeans, (a) a municipality, local board or conservation authority, (b) a ministry, board, commission, agency or official of the Government of Ontario, or (c) a body prescribed by the regulations or an official of a body prescribed by the regulations;high
#D043personincludes, but is not limited to, the Crown and its employees and agents, members of the Executive Council, and municipalitieshigh
#D044designated policymeans a policy described in Schedule 1 that has been designated in an initiative under subsection 19 (4);high
#D045Great Lakes ministersmeans the ministers responsible for the ministries that were involved in the development of the Strategy or that are involved in the implementation of the Strategy;high
#D046Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basinmeans, (a) the part of Ontario, the water of which drains into the Great Lakes or the St. Lawrence River, including the parts of the Great Lakes and of the St. Lawrence River that are within Ontario, or (b) if the boundaries of the area described by clause (a) are described more specifically by the regulations, the area within those boundaries;high

#D052planning boardmeans a planning board established under section 9 or 10 of the Planning Act ;high
#D053prescribed instrumentmeans an instrument that is prescribed by the regulations made under clause 38 (1) (a);high
#D054public bodymeans, (a) a municipality, local board or conservation authority, (b) a ministry, board, commission, agency or official of the Government of Ontario, or (c) a body that has been prescribed by the regulations or an official of such a body;high
#D055regulationsmeans the regulations made under this Act;high
#D056Strategymeans the document entitled “Ontario’s Great Lakes Strategy” that is published by the Government of Ontario, dated December 2012 and available to the public on a website of the Government of Ontario, as amended under section 5.high
#D057personincludes, but is not limited to, the Crown and its employees and agents, any other public body and their members, employees and agents and members of the Executive Council.high
